Compact
Good quality, nice flame. I just wish it had a hose wrap and striker hook when not in use.

Just what I was after
I wasn't looking for a rig for serious steel welding - read my review accordingly. I was looking to fuse some heavy-gauge (10ga) non-ferrous metal beyond the capacity of my usual propane-air torch. They might generate high enough temperatures, but the metal sucked the heat away from the joint too fast for fusion. This does the job just fine. I had been having trouble finishing the ends of 10ga wire work. The usual findings weren't cutting it, the shapes are too uneven to make fabricated findings work well, and I'm just not nuts about using glue in these things - a nice, solid cold join like a rivet give me more sense of commanding the craft, but would have been difficult to apply, if even possible. A fused end seemed ideal, and a light-duty oxy-gas rig seemed like the tool of choice. Early results are all good. And, compared to the Smith Little Torch (a different tool for different jobs), the tank caddy is a Caddy, compared to the Smith's Volkswagen. That said, I have to agree with some of the negative reviews. Yes, the disposable oxy tanks have limited working life (and high price), but don't blame this tool Yes, the oxy valve is fussy: I turn and turn and turn and get nothing, then all of a sudden, way too much. A little practice with it and a light touch will get the result you want. Yes, it's not easy to screw the oxy tank onto the valve, but I think I was fighting the first release of pressure when the valve got into the tank ahead of the tank and valve threads engaging. And one more thing, not the tool's fault; You must light up the fuel before turning on the oxy, as with any torch. But it takes a while turning the oxy valve to get it going, and the fuel burns sooty, throwing threads of carbon into the air until the oxy kicks in. I have a tight workspace with limited ventilation, but I also have an air cleaner. When I fire up this torch, the air cleaner's schmutz sensor pegs and the fan goes into overdrive. If you have otherwise good ventilation and some tolerance for a little dirt, I envy you. Otherwise, I strongly recommend adding an air cleaner to your shopping cart, if not for your lungs and cleaning chores, then for whoever shares your work and living space.-- wiredweird

Nice to have.
Good for fine work. Can turn a lot of broken junk into good stuff. Can save you a lot of money.

Questionable!
Update: I've used the torch maybe 4 times the map gas hose popped off by the tip as soon as I turned the gas on! The hose is just pushed on with no Farrell, I was lucky it wasn't lit when the hose popped off! Law suit waiting to happen! So the valve for the map gas started unscrewing from the valve, had to tighten that up with 10mm. Then the regulator wouldn't allow the map gas to come out, so I had to reset the regulator which is opening the tip valve opening the regulator valve and then I used a drywall screw to push the pin inside the regulator to release all pressure. Closed both valves screwed tank back on opened regulator slowly now it works great! So all the people that say it won't work, try that and see if it helps! BTW FYI that's the same issue you can run into with a gas grill, I believe it's a safety feature if the hose ever blows the regulator closes.

Perfect, exceeded my expectations.
I’m not trying to be judgmental but I feel like the people that have given it bad reviews are not very experienced with brazing (I am not either). But if you know how to solder copper pipe it is very similar. I replaced the compressor in my home freezer and MAP gas would not give enough heat to the joints by the compressor because it acted as a heat sink. This torch, with the proper settings, was more than enough needed. I am very glad I did not re-invest in an oxy-acetylene set. This did the job perfectly. One tank of oxygen is more than enough to do at least 8 brazing joints.

I'd like to rate this higher
Unfortunately I can't rate this beyond 3 stars., the product is made well and shipped in a timely fashion, however from what Ive seen, once damaged there is no option available to buy a replacement torch tip. Given the high temperature this torch can produce, damaging the tip seems almost par for the course. As is the case in my informed but novice use.

Excellent torch! But use bigger O2 bottle.
I use this torch to remove oil canning from automotive sheet metal. To do this you need super hot pinpoint flame that gets the sheetmetal red hot about the size of a dime. My larger welding torch gets things to hot to fast but this little torch is perfect for this task. However, you will run through tons of the RED O2 tanks that are normally used with this torch! So, I simply adapter the O2 hose directly to one of my larger O2 welding tanks. Just visit your local hardware store to get the fittings to adapt it to the O2 regulator on the larger O2 tank. Fitting were under $10 and now I have a fantastic mini torch that runs for a good while on the normal little MAP gas YELLOW tank and my larger O2 tank.I set the pressure on the O2 gauge at the tank to 20PSI and the torch works great.See the photo I provided for what the setup looks like.
