Gives a nice dull (not glossy) coat
This is great stuff. You set up the item(s) you want to give a preventive coat to, then spray, let dry, and repeat a couple times. The finish is a dull matte; it doesn't really feel like the items are coated with lacquer--which I didn't want, so it's just what I was looking for. It feels almost like the items are coated with plain paint, but it's paint that doesn't chip off. So they feel unvarnished yet well protected, which is just the effect I was hoping for. The only real downside I can think of for this product is that there isn't enough of it, so I had to buy a second one.For reference, one of these contains about enough to give a good solid triple coating to about 15-20 miniatures (including lacquering the bases).

Perfect for sealing doll faceups
I've used this to seal several custom doll faceups. It makes sealing in my work much easier than any brush-on lacquer, and is far more easily accessible and affordable than the MSC that a lot of other artists seem to use, without any noticeable difference in quality. I've sealed in full face freckles before adding makeup so that I could wipe away any mistakes without damaging the freckles, with great success every time. It really does the job well! This does mean that you need to be absolutely sure before sealing that you're happy with your paint job though, because once it's on it'll take serious elbow grease to remove! The finish is a beautiful matte that is a perfect imitation of natural skin texture. My dolls look so beautiful and lifelike once they've been painted and sealed with Dullcote. They've been photographed many times in various lighting, and I'm very happy with the results. No glare on the skin, even with a flash. No uneven or shiny spots. Just a gorgeous, smooth matte look.Just be sure to follow the directions and spray far enough away from the surface you are coating. Spraying too close can cause tiny bubbles to appear, and the layer of Dullcote will peel off around them after they've dried. Do a few practice runs if you're worried to make sure you have the hang of it.

Good practice sealer for bjd faceups!
I use this when I want to practice bjds and not give them permanent faceups. It doesn't have as much tooth as MSC but it does work and is alot cheaper. I would highly recommend it if you need practice.Bjd was sealed with testors 2x, worked on while spraying a thin layer every time I needed to save my process and then a final time at the end.The result is good and so far I have had no problems!

Good results with minis
I've done around 20 D&D miniatures with this. Like others, I think they could give a larger bottle for what they're charging. But the quality is good. It is tack free in maybe 20 minutes, but I let them sit overnight just to make sure the finish looks right. Highly recommend it.

Convert.
I tried this on a recommendation from a well known miniature clay artist - it’s great. Matte finish, and does a great job protecting the finished product. The can is rather small, but the quality of the Sealer is high, and this will be the brand I use from now on.

like for instance model horses
If you are working with painted models, like for instance model horses, dull cote is the only fixative I have never had trouble with over time. It ages well. I have not had models go gummy with dull cote. One thing I have noticed is that if you use too much dull cote, your model can end up glossy and there is a danger of runs. Let the product dry really really well before you handle it.

Multi-use formula!
Fantastic overcoat! The can is tiny, though. This will be used on my more expensive minis. For everything else, I will stick with cheaper lacquer. When this stuff goes on, it starts drying almost immediately. When it is dry, it serves more than just protecting the paint job you just spent 90 hours on. This stuff goes on very thin, so as to be almost nonexistent to the untrained eye and finger. But, I noticed that after I put it on, a mini that had some parts that felt loose suddenly felt much more sturdy. They made an accidental spray glue! (Probably shouldn't use this on parts that need to move around unless you cover them individually before assembly.)

Dullcote shiny?
Labeled "dullcote", but is semi gloss. I tried shaking the can for two minutes, in case that was the issue. No difference. Applied in light, misted coats from 8+ inches away. Still shiny! Was used at room temperature.
