Gets the job done... not too fluorescent... no bleed through
I received a box of 12 Sharpie "Smear Guard" yellow narrow chisel highlighters. The box says assembled in the USA and is non-toxic (Conforms to ASTM D-4236. The pens are 5-3/8" in length x approximately 1/2" wide at the cap (without clip) and is about 1-1/2" in circumference, if you want to plan your book bag slot or pocket. The clip is not a brittle plastic and is somewhat resistant to cracking, within reason; I was able to use my finger to pry the clip open ~1/2" with no cracking or stressing of the clip, it resumed normal position, I only did this once. The cap is secure, though I have not used the highlighter and open-end and closed the lid many times, it seems secure, but note that it does not snap in place, but rather slides on. My sense is that the cap may loosen over time.In comparison to my other highlighter, the Sharpie ink comes out a little "dryer" and I think not fluorescent, which is a reason for the lack of bleed through (see pics). I have attached pics of a bleed and bleed though experiment on notepad paper similar in thickness to typical photocopy paper. The first is a serious of various ink pens and a pencil and whether of not it caused smudging of the ink. There was no problem with any of the ink pens. The Sharpie fine point pen did bleed through. In addition, highlighting documents printed on a HP Inkjet printer or a typical store receipt caused no streaking, smudging or bleed through. In an attached picture I also highlighted (one sweep) of a drug package insert, pretty thin, almost like bible paper, with no bleed through.Overall pleased with the product, performs well, no bleed through in typical use. Need more assessment of longevity and security of the cap.I enjoy doing the measurements and experiments. If you found the results useful, please hit the "helpful button. It provides motivation to do these types of experiments. Thank you.
