Had to drill a hole through a small, half-inch thick smooth river rock. Not sure what kind it is (maybe basalt?). I placed the stone in a small container of cold water, chucked the bit in a Dremel, and using very little pressure I just let the bit do the work, pausing every 20-30 seconds to clear the hole and keep the bit from overheating. It took about 10-12 minutes but eventually it bored right through.A couple of observations:1 - I was trying to center the hole but the bit wandered off to the side. I was drilling freehand and do not have a drill press or other means to center the stone, so any suggestions are appreciated.2 - There's quite a bit of chipping where the bit went in (first photo), less so where it came out (second photo). The exit hole is also wider than the entrance. Neither of these are an issue for me in my application, but any suggestions to avoid this are welcome.So far, I have used only one bit just this once and it performed as advertised. By following the procedure as described, I expect these should last me a long time. Your mileage may vary.

These little diamond bits are the perfect size for my rotary tool. I had a couple beads I needed to use the on and they worked perfectly. I can’t wait to use them on more projects.

I purchased for wife to drill holes through sea shells, failed to drill though?

Why did you pick this product vs others?:My husband makes jewelery and said to works well with drilling some stones and even some metals depending on the thickness. They are much smaller compared to the picture, I almost thought I got the wrong thing.

While the drills drill, they can only do so with excessive pressure or a pilot hole since the tips seem to be cut inexplicably flat for a drill. Which kind of defeats the purpose of it actually being a drill, in my opinion.It's almost like the designer saw an image of a drill in a magazine once, thought 'hey, let's make some of those!' And then designed them without knowing what they'd be used for. Additionally, the diamond coating is rough grit.. really rough grit. So if you wanted to use them to drill thru.. say, glass, stone, or other brittle surface, expect heavy chipping of your material.

This worked amazingly with my rotary tool. I was able to drill clean holes into my projects to allow them to be turned into awesome charm pieces.
