Hal Leonard First 50 Classical Pieces: You Should Play on the Piano

as long as you can read music and want to play classical music you will love this.

I haven’t played the piano with both hands, for over 40 years, so I decided lock down was a good time to renew my piano playing skills. The music is not particularly difficult to tackle and one can recognise the tune, in spite of the fact that the piece has been “ simplified”. A worthwhile purchase to dip one’s toe back in the musical water.

This is a really great book I learned to play many years ago and hadn't touched a piano in a long timenand this really helped me pick up playing again. I would say beginner to intermediate level. Most quite straight forward to play with a few decent challenges.

As a retiree and aspiring grade 1 pianist, I really like the way these pieces have been arranged. Some of them are perhaps a bit challenging, but that's all to the good. The arranger seems to have been able to capture the essential harmony of the pieces, so they are very recognisable and a delight to play, even in their simplified form.Each music page of the book has up to four grand staffs, and the notes are well spaced, making it very easy to read. But it also means page turns for some of the longer pieces. I would have prefered a slightly smaller font, and the whole piece on 2 A4 sides. But apart from that little niggle, this book is highly recommendable.

Didn't realise this book was for beginners ( oversight on my behalf), but there are some beautiful pieces in here which are made accessible for the intermediate pianist. The print is large and clear, and the book seems to be well made.
