Great fidget.

I use this at work with students (and for myself) as a paraprofessional. I find that the consistency is great for building fine motor skills as well as being a useful fidget to stim with.It doesn’t get stuck in clothes or carpet like playdoh which is awesome!

Thera Putty can be used at home as maintenance after physical therapy.

Thera Putty green is what I used while in physical therapy and purchasing my own tub after completing physical therapy will help me maintain and increase the strength in my wrist/hand. I tried using a toy brand of putty but it did not work because it lacked the resistance Thera Putty provides. As long as you keep it clean and enclosed in the provided tub, it should keep for a long time. I bought the 6 oz tub and it is the perfect size for my hand/wrist exercises. Knowing how well Thera Putty has worked for me, the price was not an issue and did not seem expensive.

Used after carpal tunnel surgery

Using it after carpal tunnel surgery, recommended by physical therapist. Works well.

More slimy and stiffer than the therapist's

It is stiffer than the putty received from the therapist who gave me yellow. I find this beige to be about the same resistance as the therapist's yellow. This has a slimy feel when first picked up.

Silly Putty for Adults and hand/arm workouts

I bought this set because I am currently recovering from wrist surgery, and I need very much to have my strength back as my job is dangerous and physical. My safety depends partially on my ability to physically control dangerous people.Basically, exercise putty is the silly putty you played with as a kid (maybe even an adult "kid"), but with differing amounts of resistance. This means they have the same downsides as silly putty. This means that they can conform to nearly anything, they can stick to text and copy it, and they can pick up cat and dog hair like crazy (so if you have animals or a really dusty house, be careful to put them right back in their cases when you are done)The different colors are good steps up (or down) in resistance levels, not too much, not too little. They are all great for different times in your progress, or different exercises. For instance, some people have said that the brown is too weak. For my current weakness, it is actually a great place to start. If you are just using them to work out, and you aren't weak, you can use this softer putty for doing longer workouts more focused on endurance. I tend to use the brown and yellow putties for my weak hand, and also for when I'm watching tv in my strong hand to increase its endurance. You could also use this for fast muscle fiber exercises, it's soft enough to squeeze quickly, but provides quiet a bit of resistance when you're squeezing so quickly. Great for martial artists like myself, or cops/correctional officers like myself, as it's important to work fast and slow fibers.Again, people have complained about the strength of the black putty especially. Yes, for regular speed training, it's really tough. It'd be great for someone with already strong hands and forearms. For those of us that aren't muscle men or women, you can do the exercises you'd like slowly and this WILL squeeze very well at a slow speed and give constant resistance throughout. I can even use it in my weak hand if I go very slow and carefully. So overall these are great for exercising, their intended purpose. I almost took away one star because they do suck up the pet hair around the house if I am not careful to set them only down in their plastic buckets, but realized that any putty will do this, it's the nature of the substance. Now, I DID find another purpose for these besides working out. These are all semi solids, so they "melt" into blobs, or into whatever shape they are put in. The softer resistances will flow toward gravity faster, the stronger resistances much more slowly. So other than being fun and cool, these putties could be used to teach science lessons, especially about gravity and semi solids, in an interactive and fun way. I didn't get them for this purpose, but discovered it accidentally. Might be fun for parents/teachers though.Overall, with the caveat that they do pick up dust, pet hair, etc. easily, these are great putties.

Perfect Rock-Climber Desk Toy

I have the Blue/Firm putty, which is perfect for playing with and exercising my hands while listening to conference calls at work. I consider myself an intermediate sport-climber (I climb once or twice a week - mostly 5.10s of various sorts) and while nothing beats time on the wall for general strengthening the theraputty lets me do something during otherwise unproductive down-time (especially on non-climbing days). Hang-boards are awesome but prone to over-work and not nearly as convenient.Playing with the putty is fun (and stress relieving). Actually doing the exercises seems the way to genuinely get strength out of it - there are plenty of these online which can easily be found via google.I find that the Blue/Firm putty feels just a bit tougher than a medium tension (7 lb per finger) Prohands Gripmaster when just squeezing it - though with the diversity of exercises available with the putty (especially hand-expansion exercises which rock climbing and gripmasters don't train) it can be just a touch more strenuous.Basically: if you have a bit of the specialized grip-strength that comes from gymnastics, rock climbing or other grip-related sport/training then I'd say blue is the way to go. If you're comfortable and familiar with exercising with hang-boards etc then I'd probably try the black. If you're just starting on grip-strength training I'd probably go with the green.6oz of the putty is just a bit less then a tennis ball and is about how much you need to really do a lot of the full-hand exercises for smaller adult hands. Someone with large hands might want 8 oz. The small portions really seem aimed at kids or some of the smaller single-finger exercises. It doesn't stick to anything unless you leave it sitting for a while. Dropping it on the carpet is fine - but if you leave it on fabric, carpet, or something fuzzy for a long duration it may start to try to integrate with it.Basically this is specifically dense/thick neatly-colored silly putty and will behave as such.

Therapy putty

My autistic son loves his therapy putty. It's helping with his motor skills . Next time I'll buy it less firm.

"Soft" red is very hard

I just started hand therapy after having carpal tunnel release surgery. My therapist suggested I start with soft putty and then graduate to soft-medium (which this company doesn't carry). I bought the red "soft" version and it is very hard.A friend who does not have hand issues guessed that it was the hard variety (after I asked her to guess the level of the putty herself).I am unable to safely use this for my therapy because I need to start with a softer putty.
