Q: Will this stamp aluminum?

The handle is much smaller than the surface of the stamp so the force applied to the stamp will be focused in the center and not applied equally over the entire stamp. The corners will not get any pressure applied when striking the on metal. Also, neither the handle nor the stamp faces are properly hardned for use on any kind of metal. So no, this will not work on aluminum. It would break pretty quickly and give you partial, uneven stamps. Even though they cost more, several people make metal stamps with runes on them and they would be worth getting.

Q: Could these be used with ink for stamping paper?

Hi: I suppose they could, but most ink stamps are rubber, which likely means that stamps work best if there is some give to the image when it is pressed against the paper. I'm sure it would create the image, but I just don't know how perfect it will be.Sorry I can't be more helpful.Thanks,JeffOpen Bay Trading

Q: Can i use them on hot metal for necklaces?

these stamps would not be ideal for that kind of work. They are meant for softer materials and are size larger than most would be able to use for necklaces. The stamps and alphabet are about 3/4 of an inch in height.

Q: Would they hold up under heat? Was trying to find a rune set for branding wood.

These are made for leather working so heating them up for wood burning or branding would ruin them in my opinion. I do own this set and I don't think it would stand up to that kind of use. Especially repeatedly. Additionally, there is one handle which fits on the back of whichever stamp you are currently using. The handle locks in with a detent, it does not screw in, an d it is short and metal, made for striking with a hammer. You'd need a way to hold the stamp after heating it. Basically I think they'd be difficult to heat up, control while branding and probably warp.
