My daughter has just taken her GCSEs & found this book incredibly helpful. Most of her revision books were from a different provider but she found this one the most useful. Would recommend.

I wish this revision aid had been available when I was at school doing my History ‘O’ Level (the qualifications that preceded GCSEs) - and subsequent ‘A’ Level in the subject.In my ‘O’ Level qualification we covered topics like the Industrial Revolution, the French Revolution and the English Civil War - which somehow seem less interesting than the topics and periods covered now. But never mind!This gives good basic tuition in the topic it covers, but is also full of hints and tips to reinforce and check understanding.Importantly, it gives examples of where points can be gained - and also what NOT to do when answering a given question: i.e. where you’re literally wasting time and effort in providing answers that can’t gain you extra points. What I always thought of as the ‘scattergun’ approach.Part of an eight book series in the subject at this level, this guide is clearly set out, very nicely priced, and will no doubt provide your offspring with an important learning resource for passing an important subject in a series of exams that may well define their future.

History, in particular WW2 is something my son has been interested in for all his school life.My son was preparing for his mock exams and I picked up a few books to help him out. I'm so glad I did, because he did really well. Revision and exam preparation is quite daunting for me as a parent, even for GCSEs, but my son seemed to take it all in his stride...or so I thought. He already had a good amount of info and help from the school and teachers, they did a good job, but having a separate and focused resource like this was a great help. I'll be buying more before he takes his final exams in the summer.

Ordered for my Year 11 daughter who reports that these guides are really useful and that she prefers them being separated rather than in one long volume. It goes without saying to check whether the exam board is compatible but for anyone studying for the Edexcel History GCSE examination, this easy to read and well laid-out book is a must-have.
