Fantastic Four by Dan Slott Vol. 2: Mr. and Mrs. Grimm
J**E
Soapy. Sentimental. Wonderful.
Let's face it, the Fantastic Four is a superior soap-opera, and all the more distinctive and entertaining for it. I can add nothing to Mr. Mice Guy's perceptive and entertaining review, but to to say that for me, only the repeat of some archive material knocked off that fifth star.

“No costumes! No Shenanigans!”; as if…
“Fantastic Four – Mr and Mrs Grimm” collects the Fantastic Four Wedding Special #1 (30 pages), Fantastic Four (2018) #5 (legacy numbered #650) (60 pages), along with Fantastic Four #8 (the first #8, with the first Puppet Master story and the 1st appearance of Alicia).Well, the FF always throw a good party, and after the disappointing first volume at least we have a more traditional and entertaining special event volume, with everything (and everyone) you’d expect (and if you look carefully at the background at the bottom of the back cover you’ll see Stan and Jack among the audience). There’s not much else to say really. Other than I enjoyed it.PS: It might just be that it was Michael Allred’s usual style, but in his flashback story to the pre-FF #1 days, Colonel Ben Grimm (Colonel – when did that happen?) bears an uncanny facial resemblance to Jack Kirby.(It’s just me, then, is it?)
