The adhesive is outstanding, and to add to its ability to hold, I applied low heat to ensure a smooth finish, and the product was not damaged. That alone testifies to its quality. I had planned to return it because it's smooth, unlike the photo on the website. The photo is textured. However, I decided to use it anyway. It solves the problem. When the footrest is down, it's not noticeable unless your up close to it.
