Health & Safety
Installed this system to alleviate some of the concerns with the water service in our area. All in all we can see the results and have more confidence.

Every house should a device like this installed
I've always wanted a way to monitor and control water usage just because I'm a techie. That said, this device is amazing. It's small and was easier to install than I would have expected (I did have a licensed plumber do it but the quick connects that come with the unit eliminated any soldering). As for operation, 2 days after installation I got an alert of "low continuous flow". Turns out our guest bathroom has been having intermittent fill issues and I never knew (it's so quiet you can't hear the water running without taking off the tank lid). The app shows you real-time water usage and has several alerts for possible water leaks. And the kicker, you can remotely turn off your water! The filtration is a nice bonus but not what I purchased the device for (our city water is pretty good compared to most). I believe the trade off of $120/yr in filters will be paid by the water savings from small issues like the running toilet and provide insurance against any major problem.Definitely glad I put this in and would recommend to others.

Very poor support and app
The Smart HQ app looks nothing like the marketing pix, and is unusually difficult to figure out. This product needs a simple app that shows how to turn valve on/off, shows leak detection, and other basics. No chat support that I could find, and the phone number was not answered. No mention of the app in the instructions, and no QR code to simply download it (took hours to determine that I was looking for an app called SmartHQ).This product has only 30 days to return, and it takes longer than that to find time to install, so I'm out of luck. Don't be fooled by the trusted GE label - this isn't your parents' GE.

Easy DIY install - Wifi app setup, not so great
Pretty easy install - I had PEX-a pipe supplying the house, spliced into it with PEX-b, keeping the number of elbow joints to 2.The toughest part was getting the app to connect to the Wifi - which is why I docked it 1 star. It turns out that my router (TP-Link mesh) had an advanced featured turned on called fast roaming and the device would just not connect to the internet until I turned that feature off. Took me a couple of hours of frustrating troubleshooting turning off and on all kinds of features on my Wifi router until I could make it work. You'd think the GE/Haier folks would put these things in their instructions. In any case, the appliance seems to be working well. In day 1 it alerted me to a slow running toilet in one of the bedrooms in our house we rarely enter. The app is set to alert you on your phone when there's a slow drain (0.5 GPM or less) for an hour or a higher flow rate for 30 min. These can be adjusted in the app.TBH - that is the most useful feature of this device... the ability to monitor water flow rate and consumption, get alerts in case of a leak and the ability to shut off the water supply remotely. I'm not even sure if we needed the filtration... but can't hurt.

Just what I needed.
I have a well at my house for water and have always had hard water stains . I was told by plumber to install water filter and It would help. I found this whole house water filter on sale and purchased it . A friend of mine installed it. I was not an overly easy project as it took him some time but once up it worked perfectly. I have noticed a great improvement in the water. No more orange stains! Only drawback is you have to replace the filter every 3 month and they are not cheap, but I will do it because the filter is doing the job. Great buy.

Good filter horrible app
Installing the filter was basic with no issues. Connecting the app is a horrible nightmare that after 2 hours of trying and confirming every username and password known to man we still cannot get it connected. Frustrated that the feature is currently useless

The system is designed for ease of installation but probably only works on limited applications
(-) installation instructions say to cut out 8 3/8" but it actually requires an additional 2 3/8" of un-impeded pipe on each side to get the fittings on. (no couplings, elbows, solder splatter, etc).(-) The connections are intended for PEX or Copper but Copper would be very difficult to use if it was anything but the optimum strait run design.(-) The push fitttings take a lot of effort to move into place.(-) the bypass handle is very stiff (plastic) and it feels like it will break before it moves.(-) The vent valve began to weep immediately after installation.(+) The app appears to work well

Easy DIY filter
I bought this one because of the wifi functionality. The water lines are in a spot where I don’t see it every day so the app letting me know the lifespan of the filter is perfect. The fittings were the wrong size for my lines so I had to order the right ones to install this. The water in my home is much better now. Faucets and shower heads aren’t getting gunked up anymore. Showering feels quicker now since the water can carry more dirt away. This is also benefitting my skin and hair. Definitely recommend getting a whole home filter.
