Great product, great price.
I do quite a bit of asian-style cooking, and occasionally need some shrimp paste. This small size suited my needs perfectly. The flavor in finished product is great, and the price was very good. It was shipped quickly, packaged appropriately, and arrived safely. Hubby is enjoying a stir-fry as we speak--very happy!

this stuff is great!
this is the first shrimp paste I have ever used or purchased so I can't compare to others. I am very pleased with this though it is a delicious addiction to things. as to reviews complaining about the scent, the smell is strong when the lid is off and my nose is near it but the container works fine to contain the smell and I have a very strong sense of smell. I use this for curries and thai food but also as an addition to any seafood soup I am making and many other foods. I can see it being a nice addition to a marinade for chicken or beef.

Adds the Exact Right Flavor!
The flavor that this adds to stir fry and kimchi is exactly what you want. I needed much less of it than the kimchi recipe called for! I could absolutely see this being good on pizza in very low amounts!I found out that it is not the correct shrimp to use on kimchi even though the flavor was identical. The smell was terrible, and I cannot be completely confident in the ingredients. This is a great product, but it is is difficult to tell exactly what it is. I recommend it if you are looking for a more punchy fermented seafood flavor than what regular fish or anchovy sauce would provide. If you wanted to homemake a Worcestershire sauce or really add some umami to your steak, this may be worth a try...

If you are desperate for the Philippine bagoong...
If you are desperate for the Philippine bagoong (fish), try this. Where I live, I was unable to source affordable bagoong even online; either it is out of stock or the price is ridiculously exorbitant. With this, just add hot water and some patis (fish sauce), and I was able to make a passable pinakbet. The smell, as with fermented salted seafood, is to be expected.By the way, also realized that artichoke hearts can be a substitute for bamboo shoots.

This will be a staple ingredient for my curries!
Love how it enhances the flavor of any curry with its umami flavor. I will definitely buy again.
