For £170 this thing is a monster!

As the title says, this CPU is a monster for the price! I currently have mine clocked to 4Ghz and it is beast on the desktop and in Games. This is a fantastic CPU, definitely worth taking a peak if you're wanting to start in PC Gaming and not have to pay ridiculous prices that Intel are offering. This CPU is super close in terms of performance to the i7 7700k and half the price!Easy to install and easy to control with the help of the Ryzen Master software where you can Tweak your custom or premade 'gaming' preset which clocks the CPU up to 4Ghz for you without the worry of voltages and timings on your RAM.Now this CPU won't be churning out games on Max settings but I've been playing majority of my beefy titles like GTAV, Watchdogs 2, Witcher 3, AC Origins and all on Very High settings paired with my 980Ti with either MSAA or MSAAx2 - MSAA with maybe 2 or 3 frames dropped here and there - MSAAx2 with around maybe 4 or 6 frames dropped, so it's definitely playable if you want to get a little better quality but the regular MSAA is your best bet if you want to play Very High settings with 60fps 98% of the time 👌🏻

Powerhouse

Just a beast of a cpu.Can munch through multithreaded tasks brilliantly and a great performer for gaming. Now let me stop you there.''Great performer for gaming'' Yes that is true. I have played all the latest games on it and getting a solid 60+ frames on ultra and above without the cpu even breaking a sweat. Yes a 7700k is a brillant chip for gaming but for how long. Games are slowly utilizing more cores and threads so this will pay of in the long run and now intel have started hex core and above cpu's in there main line up on there x299 boards it will force devs and game manufactures to utilize that technology so its winner winner chicken dinner. You need to look at the games out there and work out for your self what frame rate you want to play out and what resolution. Look at the bench marks and the 7700k is levelling or beating this cpu on some titles but look at the bench marks a little closer and specificaly look at 2k and above.. Those games the ryzen was lagging behind on now suddenly its matching or beating the 7700k simple due to more cpu power needed for higher res and this cpu can delivery it. Its only going to get better and better for this cpu.

Great Editing Cpu

For editing this is no 1 but for gaming Intel still is no 1 we will have to wait for Ryzen 2 in 2019.

Powerful little monster

Such a powerful little monster. Handles very well every game I throw at it, with maxed out settings. Mine is cooled by a Corsair H80i V2, and the temps stay at ~30 degrees Celsius in idle and around 50 degrees Celsius in games, with no overclocking done.It works perfectly well with my GTX 1080 and 16 GB Ram, and I'm yet to encounter any compatibility or performance issue.I would totally recommend this CPU and the overall rating says it all, anyway.

An excellent CPU

As with most CPU's etc.. you're fced wit the silicone lottery.. My CPU top's out at 3.8Ghz I couldn't push it more.. (perhaps I could if I was more experenced). I wasn't prepared to fry my CPU. I got a shop in my town to buld my PC. I couldn't comment on how easy it was to install and set up. I use my PC for gaming and streaming most of the time. It handles the latest titles with ease. Well worth the money even now the 2700 is out.. This CPU will be a bargain.. buy it.

Ryzen 7 1700X

I was torn between getting a ryzen 1800x and a 1700x but a little research revealed that the two cpus are basically identical with exception to the difference in their default clock speeds respectfully (a small margin which gives the 1800X a little bit more headroom when overclocking frequencies come into play) but in the long run the differences/similarities senario reminds me of the AMD FX8350 vs FX9590 senario where despite the fx9590 being a somewhat faster than the fx8350, the fx8350 could be overclocked to the point that it would match or at least make the speed difference between the two seem insignificant when comparing the two. The price difference between the two ryzen 7 cpus was a bit under £100 so I went with the 1700X and have no regrets whatsoever. I stuck the cpu in an asus rog crosshair hero 6 and reused an AM3 backplate from an old asus m3n-ht motherboard I had lying around to mount a corsair H100i v2 liquid cooler and voila! an impressive monster which when coupled with some decent corsair grade 2400/3200 ddr4 ram and it's the business. The cpu was delivered on time and as described when ordered: new and in mint condition.

Review for AMD Ryzen 7 1700X

Review for AMD Ryzen 7 1700XFirst one i bought was used, thought i would save myself a few quid but found it was covered in thermal paste and worst was dead.Returned it for a brand new one.New one worked fine. The CPU does NOT come with a cooler. Its just the CPU and a sticker in the box.In use the CPU is very nippy. Can’t say I have had any slowdowns or stability issues. I use it for office work, watching films and encoding videos. It really excels at encoding videos. Compared to my other two PCs.e.g. encoding 45 minute video from x264 1080p to x265 (HEVC) 720p in handbrakemy old AMD A10 5700 would average 10-15fps and take about 70-100 minsmy i7 Lynnfield overclocked to 3GHz averages 20 fps takes about 60 minsthe 1700x at stock speed runs at 55-60 fps takes about 20 mins
