In all honesty, this purchase was the product of my Foodie proclivities getting the better of my curiousity and I'm rather glad they did coz this stuff is good stuff IMHO and makes for good eating.When you open a tin you are faced with a collection of lumpy beige things in oil which, if I was being unkind, I would liken to lumps of canned brain, but for the smell, which is overtly fishy.Texturally the lumps are soft and squishy and easily broken down with a fork, which is very convenient as I have been adding it to dishes like baked Cod as an extra layer of super-fishiness along with a handful of tomatoes or breadcrumbs or cheese or herbs or capers or whatever... I can imagine that the more traditional way of eating this stuff might be squashed onto toast or maybe a crusty baguette - options I have yet to try but which are filed in my head for further experimentation.The reason for docking a star from what is otherwise a very interesting product/ingredient is purely on the basis of price because they are quite pricey for a smallish tin of fishy bits. Having said that, since my inner Foodie is happy, so am I. If you like tinned fish and/or Taramasalata I think this stuff will be right up your street.
