Economical, reasonably fast, easy to setup laser printer.
I picked an OKI printer besacue in the past my workplace had used dot-matrix printers fron OKI, and they have proved very reliable, so I am hoping their laser versions are as reliable. Plus, if you register online you get a 3 year warranty. The 'ISO' standard cost per page of about £0.02 per page, with an estimated 3,000 pages per toner cartridge (and that is with the standard yield toner cartridges) was also a major deciding factor. The Hp inkjet this replaces was going though 2 black cartridges a month (so I was told) costing over £260 a year in ink, plus it was glacially slow, cranky, would not calibrate and was bringing up an error message for every page printed, requiring a mouse click on 'calibrate later.' Tedious is not the word. . . .I also suspect it will pay for itself by the end of the first year....However, the following is more important. It was easy to install. Just follow the included instructions. It's not super quick as laser printers go, the invoice printer at my last job ejected the printed pages so fast they flew out of the slot like fighter planes ejected from the deck of an aircraft carrier, before landing softly in the out-put tray, having been briefly airborne. These prints just silently slide out, the first page taking maybe 3-5 seconds, as the printer comes out of power saving mode, followed by the rest at about 1 second a page. It's QUIET. No more clicking and grinding as the old inkjet finally comes to life, followed by 10 seconds of tedious backwards-and-forwards grinding noises, eventually resulting In a rather blurred print that has the bottom chopped off.....It comes to life, a fan kicks in, not loud, just noticeable, (need to move my out tray, the fan blows well, blows papers onto the floor out of it) and the pages come out.It does double sided printing, that will save about 25% paper use - lots of what's printed is more than one page....Be advised:Like all printers is does not come with a USB cable or a network cable - you will have to purchase separately. The mains power cable mine came with was the European 2 round pin type, with no adapter for U.K. Sockets, bin food, waste of a cable and resources, ship with correct cable or no cable.I had a spare 1.5m mains cable in my box of cables.....Most happy, not the quickest printter, but not the slowest, meets my needs 100%.
