This is a wonderful "orrery" kit. Mechanically it is fascinating to watch. WIth a little work a lego/third party motor can be attached so you can watch it spin around on its own. The Sun, the Earth and the moon spin accurately. A very excellent manual is enclosed to detail the orrery's function. It's a fun build, not a super hard build but should be suitable for people who have done Technic style Lego builds in the past.Other than the first-generation Mindstorms kits, this is my favorite "Technic" Lego kit ever.I should add that typically orreries cost a few hundred dollars. As long as you like Lego, this is by far the most affordable planetary model I found!

My nephew is in love with stars and planets and he just so happens to enjoy legos. This is the trifecta, he loved the whole process of building it and using the crank to see how the rotations work. Great Lego set.

Fun and quick to build. Would be nice if they supplied a motor for it. Be careful with the central black gear that turns the main arm -- it's easy to reverse.
