If you are conisdering buying a barcode scanner out of general curiosity it's important to remember that the scanner is useless until it is linked to some form of software to accept and interpret the input from the scanner. Without appropriate software the scanner input just goes nowhere and nothing will happen.Software is not supplied - this is normal.Various freeware software applications are readily available as well as powerful applications intended for commercial use, and the latter are not free.I bought this scanner to read the barcodes of books directly into an online library database which takes care of the software requirments specific to books. Thus, if I point the scanner at anything other than the barcode on a book, the result is a nullity.This scanner is wired and powered via USB. It has no battery.I have not used the scanner with any of the freeware applications, but I believe that these would display the product information of whatever product you have scanned.Having used this standing desktop model for a couple of weeks I can say that is responsive, accurate, fast and reliable.

Need a bar code scanner and this does the job

Very good quality USB barcode scanner made from good materials it is lightweight but feels solid and durable.I have been using this on a Mac and so far I have had no issues it has worked straight out of the box this has impressed me a lot.No need for a separate power supply it is powered from the same USB cable which is a bonus.I am very happy with this USB barcode scanner it is a very good price and I would recommend it.

This is a good quality scanner that can scan mainstream 1D barcodes. It’s quick and easy to use, simply plug in and it’s ready to go. There are no drivers required and what I liked was that I can use on my Mac and Windows systems. This is a wired hand scanner therefore charging is not required; I’ve used wired scanners before and it’s perfect that I won’t misplace it.Overall this is a good quality scanner which is perfectly priced; I’d have no second thoughts paying £12.89 (time of writing).

This is a well-made, light, easy to use barcode scanner. While I could get it to scan on Mac, it didn't seem to send through any information - likely due to a security setting perhaps? But on PC. with each scan, the information is passed through as text followed by a carriage return - so is great for cataloguing items quickly. Great value!

Very useful and does exactly what it promises, the reader is very accurate and in moments you have everything you need to know about the item on your computer, the instructions are clear and easy to understand, very good material and the price is fair compared to great quality of the item. Very good!

This is a lightweight, handheld barcode scanner.The wireless are more expensive but if wired is ok for your needs then this is a great productIt works as I would hoped it would work and is proving really helpful.

The scanner has a decent length connecting cable and a quality feel to its operation. There are no instructions provided, but the user manual provides a plethora of test and calibration codes. I would advise prospective purchasers that the scanner is of little use without an accompanying application, although it will import barcode numbers straight into something like MS Word. I use mine with (expensive) professionally produced cataloguing software.
